ONE of Brianna Ghey’s killers has lodged an appeal against his life sentence.

Last month, Eddie Ratcliffe was jailed for life alongside Scarlett Jenkinson for the ‘brutal and sadistic’ murder of 16-year-old Brianna.

The killing of Brianna, a Birchwood High School pupil, was described as a ‘frenzied and ferocious’ knife attack.

Ratcliffe, whose father was jailed last week for sexual offences against teenager girls, was handed a minimum term of 20 years, while Jenkinson must serve at least 22 years behind bars before parole.

But as of today, Thursday, it has been revealed that Ratcliffe has lodged an appeal against his sentence with the Court of Appeal.

The court has confirmed that this appeal has been received, with the application set to be reviewed by judges.

During the sentencing of the pair, Justice Amanda Yipp said Jenkinson, of Culcheth, was motivated by a desire to kill, and Ratcliffe, of Leigh, in part by transphobia.

Justice Yipp noted the degree of planning that went into Brianna’s murder, including plan to kill other people.

Manchester Crown Court heard how the pair would only be released if the Parole Board decided that they no longer pose a danger.
