WINWICK Lane is closed in both directions after a five-vehicle crash in the ice.
Police were called at 6am this morning and found the collision involved a black Ford panel van, blue Renault Clio, HGV, red Suzuki Swift and a blue Ford Fiesta.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “There were no reports of any injuries but the road is currently closed while the vehicles are recovered and gritting is undertaken.”
The road is shut from junction 22 for the M6 at Winwick to the A572 Newton Road at Lowton.
Highways England says that traffic is coping well.
