Atherleigh Way
A MAJOR road is Leigh has been closed in both directions following a crash.
Atherleigh Way between the A572 St Helens Road and A580 East Lancashire Road has been shut in both directions.
The two-mile stretch has been closed since the early hours of this morning, July 15, and Transport for Manchester has said the road is blocked in both ways.
Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted telling drivers to seek alternative routes.
A spokesperson said: “A579 Atherleigh Way, Leigh.
“Road closure in both directions between A572 St. Helens Road and A580 East Lancashire Road.
“This is due to a road traffic collision.
“Alternative route via A580 and Newton Road/St.Helens Road.”
